Abilene


Came to Abilene to go to the movies at the Town and Country Drive-In...

The place is pretty unique having two screens and it's so Texas that it has a working oil derrick in the place.


I chose The Hulk rather than Kung Fu Panda and it's a great big overblown thing which lumbers about looking for meaning and philosophy rather than revelling in the smash and crash. There is a clear and refreshing move to put interesting actors in the comic hero roles but whereas Robert Downey Jr's weird dislocation gave the Iron Man/Tony Stark role another layer of interest; Edward Norton, an actor I admire and enjoy, has gone for a level of seriousness which, in this movie, comes across as pomposity. But enough of the amateur reviews... The reason to go to the Drive-In is that it is just about the most photogenic place on earth... Here's a few attempts to capture the experience
